The System Settings window

The System Settings window opens to the Groups tab. Group configuration provides a mechanism to functionally organize and manage capabilities and resources, also referred to as Permissions. Creating groups allows similar capabilities for any number of users in the system. When setting up groups, not every capability must be the same for all users assigned to a group. See Groups for more information.

The User settings allows for further customization of capabilities and access for a specific account (learn more about Users).

The Folders tab is where you find the Database location and the Incident Library location, which can be located anywhere on the network. The use of these folders can be selected in this tab, and additional access restriction can be applied in the Groups and Users tabs. This is also where SMTP Settings parameters are set, email settings for the Camera Recording Tracker, and the location of the audit log is displayed.

The Detect Tab shows the name of the Appliance.

NTP stands for Network Time Protocol. This screen is where you point a VMS to a preferred standard time system as well as assign back-up time systems in case of failure. This ensures that each live feed, recorded video, and incident has a synchronized time stamp.

Global Setting displays the name of the system and other system-wide settings. There is a new check box to allow up to four Display View windows to open at a time, rather than the usual three.

Note: A system restart is required to enable this feature.

A mapping system is selected in the Mapping tab. Three different types of mapping systems can be used: Google Maps, vector-based maps, or Esri basemaps. Vector-based maps are typically used for offline situations, and can refer to a folder rather than the Internet. When switching mapping systems, a logout is required for the maps to change.

The Alarm Scheduling tab is where alarm schedules are created, edited, and deleted. See Alarms for more information.

The Interview Room tab houses the parameters of the Case Number Mask. The mask can be customized according to the elements listed in the field. If the parameters of the mask are changed, each user must log out and log in again before the changes are applied.
