SMTP Settings
SMTP is an acronym for “Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.” This is the protocol used for sending e-mail over the Internet. Your e-mail client uses SMTP to send a message to the mail server, and the mail server uses SMTP to relay that message to the correct receiving mail server. Detect VMS also uses SMTP for notifications.
It is possible to change SMTP settings in the System Settings window in order to have email notifications sent from within a closed or secure network environment. Navigate to the main Detect Map View toolbar > Administrator > Edit > System Settings.
1 In the System Settings window, click on the Folders tab.
2 Enter the SMTP settings that correspond to your network requirements and click OK.
SMTP fields
The SMTP Settings fields indicate an email address from which system notifications will be sent. This can be an administrator or an address specifically set up to serve notifications. The configuration of SMTP servers is standard—you will simply have to copy the parameters of your network into this field.

Server Name the actual SMTP server’s specification
Port Port 587 is supported by almost every outgoing SMTP server and it’s useful for unencrypted or TLS connections
Enable SSL SSL/TLS is a security system that combines authentication and encryption, in which the client and server must both prove their identity. The identification procedure includes an encryption key, which is used to protect all transmissions once the connection has been established. Enabling SSL will generally affect the port connection.

Domain A local domain is a DNS domain that is serviced by the local SMTP server.
