Setting alarm triggers

To access the Alarms tab, navigate to the main Detect Map View toolbar and select Administrator > Edit > Camera Systems.

The Alarms tab is located to the right of the Camera Coverage tab.

Using the navigation tree, select a camera. A list of alarms populates the Alarms tab.

Use the left window to choose one of the alarm types. This list displays alarm types that are compatible with the selected camera or data sensor, and will update depending on which asset is selected. When the box is checked, there is an alarm associated with the camera. The alarm settings appear to the right.

Select the alarm position by clicking the drop down arrow and selecting a position. Position numbers refer to the location of the camera on the alarm window that opens up. Positions range from 1-12 for pane options 1x1 – 4x3.  Other cameras that use the position will be shown in the window underneath.

Tell the camera where to turn when an alarm is triggered. Assign a Camera preset for this alarm by clicking on the drop down arrow and selecting the preset.

Note: No position means the alarm is not put on-screen. The intrusion will be added to the Alarms list, but will not automatically take a pane on the Live View Alarm window.

Assign an alarm sound by using the drop-down menu to select a sound. You may also import a sound by clicking the Add button to search your computer for a .wav audio file, then click Open. Press the play button to sample the chosen sound.

This is also where you can see which users are assigned to receive this alarm notification. Select a User by clicking the drop-down menu. See Assigning alarm schedules to a group  for more information about assigning alarms to groups.

When an alarm is triggered, the sound associated with that camera will be played and the Alarm window will open, with the camera in its designated position.

In our example, the DEMO-PTZ camera alarm was set off. The camera position is set to 1, meaning it will appear in the first pane of the Alarm window.
