Alarm window

The Alarm window launches when Detect is started. It shows all the alarms that the logged-in user is subscribed to, system-wide, in one window in real time. The Alarm window launches automatically with Detect VMS.

In the Live View tab, right clicking an alarm loads the live feed of that particular camera or cameras into the viewing panes. In addition to the current or most recent alarms, a user can click the More button to load alarms that were triggered when they were not logged in.

Click More to show the last ten alarms. Clicking More again will load the next 10 alarms, and so on until all the alarms have been displayed.

Click Search to open the Search window. Note, the Search function works the same way for both Handled and Unhandled Alarms.

You can enter a keyword for the search--a camera or sensor name--or leave it blank. Select a start and end date for the search. If you want to include Throw Away alarms, check the box.

While the results of a search are being displayed, the buttons on the Alarm window are shown in color. Click the red Clear button to dismiss the search results and return to  current alarms.

Unhandled alarms

Unhandled alarms are shown in the top field on the left. Once an alarm has been activated, it will show in this list for an hour, giving the user time to assess it. Right click the alarm to load live video into a viewing pane.

Click the green check mark to handle the alarm. The alarm is logged and timestamped, and will be saved on the NVR for future recovery.

In some cases, alarms will be triggered accidentally, or may be deemed unimportant. In those cases, click the red X to "throw away" an alarm. The alarm will be available via search function until the data is reaped (per the schedule set up by the administrator), after which it will be permanently deleted.

Handled alarms

If the alarm automatically times out (after 60 minutes) or is dismissed by clicking the green check, it is moved into the Handled Alarms field, directly below. Right click the alarm to load recorded video of that camera and time frame into a viewing pane. Note, when you load Handled alarm video, the window switches to Recorded View automatically.

When viewing Alarms in the Recorded View tab, all the alarms in the Handled list are indicated by icons in the timeline. Clicking an icon will key the video to the exact location of the alarm trigger.

Note: The icons are staggered in a way to be clearly visible. The start time may not be exactly under the icon.

In the Recorded View tab, use the calendar search function to select a date and timeframe. All alarms that were activated during that time period will be visible on the timeline, and a corresponding list will populate the Handled Alarms field. The icon indicates the number of alarms in that timeframe. If there are two or more alarms very near each other on the timeline, the icon will show a 2 (or higher number) next to it. Use the timeline slider in the lower right corner to separate the alarm cluster into individual alarms. See Detect Recorded View for more information on using the calendar and navigation tools, as well as information on Exporting an Incident.
