Transfer an Incident to removable media

View Video (Understanding the Incident Library)

An Incident can be copied to a removable media for transfer or storage. From the Display View window > Incident View tab, click the Transfer button.

Note: an incident does not need to be loaded into the Display View panes to transfer.

The Burn to Portable Storage dialog comes up.

1 Using the camera tree in the Repository field, navigate to the one or more incidents you want to copy, and click to highlight.

2 Click the Add button.

3 Click in the Volume Name field and enter a name for your stored file.

4 Select the device you want to copy the Incident to.

A Group or User with the correct permissions is allowed to save the Incident anywhere on the computer, not just a removable media. This is advised only after extreme consideration. See Permissions for more information.

5 Check the remaining settings.

The default setting is to export any associated notes and video with the incident. If the notes should not be included for any reason, check the Remove Notes box. There is also an option to export the audio only -- check the Audio Only box if associated video should not be exported for any reason.

For performance reasons, incidents are generally exported in one minute increments, that the software later reconstructs for playback. To export the video as a single .mp4 file instead, check the Video box.

6 Click Transfer.

The incident will be saved to your selected media, packaged as audio and video footage along with an incident player. See VMS Incident Player for more information.

The bar at the bottom indicates the progress of the transfer.

7 Click OK to dismiss the confirmation dialog box.
