Creating Alarm schedules

VIEW VIDEO (Creating Alarm Schedules)

Alarm schedules are a powerful and extremely customizable way to set up notifications to a group or a user that an intrusion has occurred within the camera’s field of view. Detect VMS allows an administrator to set alarm notification schedules for different groups and users. These schedules can be simple or sophisticated, depending on the level of notification required. To access the scheduling calendar, navigate to the Detect Map View main toolbar > Administrator > Edit > System Settings.

This brings up the System Settings dialog box.

In our example, we are going to set an alarm schedule that will alert the Day Shift to be alerted to an intrusion during normal business hours, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, allowing an hour for lunch.

1 To schedule a new alarm, click on the Alarm Scheduling tab.

2 Select an empty profile and click Edit. The system can store up to 15 schedules.

This brings up the Get Alarm Schedule Profile dialog box. This is where you will create an alarm schedule and identify its properties.

3 Enter a descriptive name for the new alarm schedule in the Name field. This set can include multiple individual rules that you will add in the next steps. Click Add to begin customizing the rules.

The GetSchedule dialog box opens. This is where individual rules will be identified.

4 Enter a name for the rule. Select a start time and an end time by either clicking on a number and entering the desired time, or using the arrow buttons to move the time increments. Highlight the time increment you want to change by clicking on it. The numbers will turn white indicating it's active.

5 Set the frequency of the rule using the calendar underneath the time setting.

Note: See Alarm frequency options for more information about how to use the alarm calendars.

Keep in mind that you can define a different setting for each of the calendar options and save them as one rule. For example, you can schedule a single alarm from 1:00–5:00 on a specific date, an alarm weekly on Tuesdays, and a week of month alarm that triggers on the first Monday of every month, all as the same rule.

6 In our example, the alarm ‘Daily AM’ will run from 8:00am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday, from October 2016 through May 2017.

Notice the calendar on the far right of the window has also updated, displaying dates in bold type to indicate when an alarm is active. The daily schedule shows alarm coverage visually, in 15-minute increments. Mouse over an active section to show which alarm (or alarms) is indicated for that time slot.

7 Once the rule is set up to your specifications, click OK.

The alarm is saved. You can continue to add rules for different schedules until the coverage is exactly how you need it. Click through the calendar to visualize all the active rules for that alarm schedule on any given day. You can use the Edit and Remove buttons for individual rules as well.

8 When you’re done adding individual rules to the schedule, click OK.

The schedule now appears in the Alarm Scheduling window of the System Settings dialog box.

Note: The timestamp for alarms is synced to the NTP server used by the system
