Assigning a GeoSpace response

The function of a GeoSpace is to create a boundary within which a predetermined event will trigger a camera response. To access an existing GeoSpace, navigate to the main Detect Map View toolbar and select Administrator > Edit > Camera Systems. In the Camera Systems window, click on the GeoSpace tab.

If there are any GeoSpaces configured in your VMS, they will be listed in the GeoSpaces field. In our example, we will be assigning an action to a GeoSpace named ‘Back Parking Lot,’ set up around the Leverage office.

1 Select the GeoSpace to assign an action. The map centers on the location.

Next to the Points tab, there is an Action tab. The Action tab provides a means to establish the following:

Which cameras to commission for a response

Assign a camera preset (if the camera has PTZ capabilities)

2 Click the Action tab.

Take note of the available resources, then determine the cameras and presets that will best monitor your event.

The next step is to assign camera preset views in the Action Taken field.

3 Click the Add button (1). In the Cameras field to the right, scroll through the list of cameras to select the one you want to assign to this response (2). If you select a PTZ camera, the list of assigned presets populates the Presets field. Highlight one to assign it to the response position (3).

Note: If there are a lot of cameras in the VMS, it is a good idea to take a note of the camera name or number before you start.

You can also use the map navigation controls to move around the map to click on cameras to add. Continue to assign cameras and presets to the remaining positions.

4 Click OK to save your GeoSpace actions and dismiss the Edit Camera Systems window.
