The Mapping system

The mapping system is the layer within Detect VMS that provides geospatial information. Detect VMS supports multiple basemap systems: vector-based maps, Google Maps, and Esri map subscriptions. The mapping system is set by an administrator in the Mapping tab of the System Settings window.

Google Maps

Google Maps are commonly used on desktop computers and have geospatial information for a vast geographic area. You can view Google Maps as a satellite view, or a map view; the view is preferential and does not affect the functionality of the Detect software.

If you encounter a problem with the map loading, use the Redraw button on the top left of the screen to refresh the connection.

Vector-based maps

Vector maps might also be called offline maps, because they can refer to a location on a network, rather than a web URL. The feature roads and other features, but do not utilize satellite footage.

Note: Check with your Leverage Account Manager for vector-based map coverage in your area.
