Network Node View

Network Node View is a static documentation module that displays the location and speed of the infrastructure that supports a specific system on a map. A node is defined as any hardware device that is located on the system: routers, wireless routers, cameras, and sensors. This window allows an administrator or technician to more quickly diagnose a point of failure if a camera or other asset is not working properly, by narrowing down the potential problem along the trail of switches and connections.

To access Network Node View, navigate to the Detect main toolbar and select Administrator > View Network Nodes.

The Network Node View window opens with a visual display of the nodes and connections. This map view can be navigated the same as the Map View window, and the Camera Coverage and Geo Space buttons behave in the same way.

Different node types are identified by icons, and different colors indicate different speeds. Mousing over a node brings up a tooltip with the name of the asset. Connection speed is color-coded based on the speed of the router.

Clicking on an icon loads the specifications for that particular asset in the fields at the left.

Clicking the Connecting Devices button brings up the Connecting Devices window. This window displays every device that is connected to the selected node in the field at the left.

When a connected device is selected in the window, the main map re-centers on that icon, and the device specifications are displayed in the Device tab.

In the Pictures field, the Reference button brings up a Photo Viewer window.

The Photo Viewer window displays a photo and any notes that have been entered by the administrator to facilitate the identification of the node by a technician in the field. For example, this could be a photograph of the device itself, it’s location in the field, or any other useful information. The Next and Prev buttons allow the user to scroll through the photographs. Click OK to exit the window.

If a device connects to a camera, the FOV button launches a Photo Viewer window that produces live video from the camera, in order to determine the cameras field of view and assess whether it is still accurate and appropriate.

The Connection tab displays the type and speed of the device, as entered by the administrator during setup.
