Initiating an interview

Right click an Interview Room site to see the options.

1 To begin an interview, right click on an Interview Room site and select View Interview room.

This opens a new Interview Room. The top of the Interview Room always shows the name of the room. From the drop-down menu, select a folder save the interview to (you may have access to only one).

2 Enter a case name, interviewer name (Detective), and unique subject.

If the interview has not been assigned a unique subject, an error will prevent continuation of the interview.

3 Click Start.

Once the interview has begun, it cannot be ended for at least three minutes. This safeguard is in place to prevent a user accidentally aborting the interview.

The Display View field of the Interview Room site turns green system-wide to indicate that an interview is active. The top bar of the Interview Room window indicates the status of the interview and who initiated it.

After three minutes, the (1) End button becomes active and user who initiated the Interview can end it. Clicking the (2) Cancel button will provide an option to end the interview without saving it as an incident.  At any time, the (3) Close button dismisses the dialog box, but does not end the interview.

4 Click anywhere in the New Note field to type a note about the interview. Notes can be entered by anyone with permission to view the interview.

5 Click Add Note to attach the note to the incident.

The note is sent to, logged by, and time-stamped by the Detect Appliance. Notes are then displayed in the Previous Notes field of the Interview Room window. The Previous Notes field will display notes taken from all users system-wide and are visible to all participants.

Note: The time stamp uses the same NTP as the NVR and VMS to ensure that the note is saved at precisely along with the video.

6 To end an interview, click the End button.

A timer window pops up and a three minute timer begins (shown as a blueprogress bar) during which time the interview cannot be dismissed. This allows the NVR to capture and log the video and any notes. If you cancel the interview at this time, it will not be saved.

While an interview is saving, the notes field is closed to new comments, and notes that have been entered already are hidden for privacy purposes. The Display View fields still show green to indicate an interview in progress.
